Day 17



 



We spent the night anchored outside of Jacksonville, Florida, and unfortunately, our dog Allie hurt her foot.  Jessica took a Uber to the veterinarian this morning, and we discovered that she has some cancer growth in her foot which made her susceptible to a toe injury.  We are in Saint Augustine now and are planning to have Nelson and Mary give us a ride to a specialty veterinarian Friday.  Jessica and I were able to celebrate her birthday by walking down St. George Street and having a nice meal at a restaurant that Aunt Suey recommended.  Of course I was able to finish my dinner, but Jessica has a large takeout box for snacking on tomorrow.

After nine months of planning and preparation, we finally left the dock today. Today is our two year wedding anniversary. Thanks to Chris for surprising us with coffee and donuts in the clubhouse this morning. Paul threw the dock lines on Methuselah, and Debbie and Chris took some pictures as we left Blackbeards. We will celebrate our anniversary on anchor in Beaufort tonight.

Day 2

  Left this morning from Beaufort with a cool motor down the intercoastal waterway past Swansboro and ended up anchoring in mile hammocks Bay at Camp Lejeune. At times the motoring got a little monotonous so we decided to play with the WebCam and get these    cute pictures.    Tomorrow, the weatherman promised us the sun!

Day 3

  We got a good night sleep despite the gunfire from Camp Lejeune.     We woke up to beautiful sunny skies and we made our way with following winds and tides down to Wrightsville Beach where we met my good buddy Dennis at the dockside restaurant for a late lunch.    Picked up a Mooring ball at Carolina Beach and had a nice stroll on the boardwalk with Allie testing the bark collar….she wore out the battery!    We hope by the time we get to the Bahamas, she will be used to people and dogs in strange towns.
