Day 37 - Green Turtle



 












We checked in with customs and got Kim, Jessica and I cleared along with Alli our dog .  As soon as we were cleared with customs, a beautiful rainbow appeared in the sky! Kim rented a golf cart for the three of us and we explored every inch of Green Turtle Cay. Had a nice lunch at a  local restaurant where we had cracked conch. We also found a local Bahamian taking out a couple for conch  harvesting and he showed us how to get the conch out of the shell. Then we found a beach on the ocean side to go snorkeling on and saw some reef fish and had a good time snorkeling together. A local was preparing conch ceviche so l bought a cup for an appetizer before going to the local Green Turtle Cay Marina bar. We enjoyed the local drink called the Goombay Smash. We enjoyed meeting another couple at the bar who gave us some good  sailing tips for the next couple days.  The weather continues to be beautiful! Blue skies in the upper 70s.

    Wow, it must be hard to tell one day from the next. Have you experienced my problem with what day is it? Love that you're enjoying everyday to the fullest. And that sign in the picture, we are totally making one for your backyard. Love it! I'm sure I can come up with some creative ideas. Wanda

After nine months of planning and preparation, we finally left the dock today. Today is our two year wedding anniversary. Thanks to Chris for surprising us with coffee and donuts in the clubhouse this morning. Paul threw the dock lines on Methuselah, and Debbie and Chris took some pictures as we left Blackbeards. We will celebrate our anniversary on anchor in Beaufort tonight.

Day 3

  We got a good night sleep despite the gunfire from Camp Lejeune.     We woke up to beautiful sunny skies and we made our way with following winds and tides down to Wrightsville Beach where we met my good buddy Dennis at the dockside restaurant for a late lunch.    Picked up a Mooring ball at Carolina Beach and had a nice stroll on the boardwalk with Allie testing the bark collar….she wore out the battery!    We hope by the time we get to the Bahamas, she will be used to people and dogs in strange towns.

Day 2

  Left this morning from Beaufort with a cool motor down the intercoastal waterway past Swansboro and ended up anchoring in mile hammocks Bay at Camp Lejeune. At times the motoring got a little monotonous so we decided to play with the WebCam and get these    cute pictures.    Tomorrow, the weatherman promised us the sun!
