Day 41 Hope Town



 












Jessica and I  made the 10 minute walk to the grocery store in Marsh Harbor this morning.  It was basically all American products just with the higher prices. Then we hiked back to the dinghy and out to Methuselah with our backpacks of groceries.  Then we enjoyed a leisurely two hour sail out to Hopetown on Ebow cay… we were able to charge the batteries up to 66%, yahoo. We walked around the streets and absolutely fell in love with this town. The quaint, narrow streets and the view of the lighthouse and the beach were breathtaking.  The local Bohemians that we have encountered have been super friendly.

    Great pics. Beautiful town, I'm glad you were able to avoid rush hour... I can't imagine what that would have been like?

After nine months of planning and preparation, we finally left the dock today. Today is our two year wedding anniversary. Thanks to Chris for surprising us with coffee and donuts in the clubhouse this morning. Paul threw the dock lines on Methuselah, and Debbie and Chris took some pictures as we left Blackbeards. We will celebrate our anniversary on anchor in Beaufort tonight.

Day 3

  We got a good night sleep despite the gunfire from Camp Lejeune.     We woke up to beautiful sunny skies and we made our way with following winds and tides down to Wrightsville Beach where we met my good buddy Dennis at the dockside restaurant for a late lunch.    Picked up a Mooring ball at Carolina Beach and had a nice stroll on the boardwalk with Allie testing the bark collar….she wore out the battery!    We hope by the time we get to the Bahamas, she will be used to people and dogs in strange towns.

Day 2

  Left this morning from Beaufort with a cool motor down the intercoastal waterway past Swansboro and ended up anchoring in mile hammocks Bay at Camp Lejeune. At times the motoring got a little monotonous so we decided to play with the WebCam and get these    cute pictures.    Tomorrow, the weatherman promised us the sun!
