Day 53 Hopetown 3rd time

One challenge is Laundry. Seems like we are constantly hanging clothes on the lifelines to dry from the dew or from drying off. Sometimes we use a towel a time or two and then forget if it’s a little bit dirty or really dirty. Jessica brought the towels in this morning and folded them nice and neat and commented “as long as they are folded, they are clean”…. we got a big laugh out of that. We sailed over to Hopetown for the third time because there is a music festival tonight. We took the dinghy over to the reef where I had found the lobster last time, however, this time it was choppy, and the visibility was not very good. The rough conditions made me feel uneasy about leaving the dinghy while we snorkeled so it was not as relaxing as the previous time at this beach. But we still had a good swim and held hands again while snorkeling. We visited the conch shack and watched a local Bahamian prepare conch salad for us. It was so delicious….. I watched and took a video to learn how to get the conch animal out of the shell. Hopefully it will pay off in the weeks to come as I catch conch. One key tool in cleaning conk is a butter knife to release the animal from the shell. Out of all things we do not have a butter knife. So as part of my tip, he gave me an extra butter knife that he had.  Jessica and I strolled around town at night and enjoyed the Christmas lights and the lighthouse had special Christmas lights strung off to the sides from the top..It was beautiful. Then we went to the music festival where country songwriters played their own songs. Numerous Kenny Chesney songs that were big hits were written by these guys. And one of the writers was Charles Esten from one of our drama series OBX. We enjoyed meeting people and listening to music and stayed awake until 11:30 PM, which was a record for us on this trip. We tend to go to bed early and get up early to enjoy the shorter day light hours.
