Day 95 Conch Cleaning Skill Refresher

 











We weathered the blow from the cold front just fine, so today we moved to the more desirable side of big major cay. Much more spread out and nicer beaches here. I got another round of water in the jerry cans to replenish yesterday‘s saltwater contamination fiasco. We went to the beach and met up with our friends, Tim and Carolyn and had planned to go snorkeling, but with the cooler temperatures and good conversations, we just stayed on the beach all afternoon. Ali tried to keep up with the labradors on the beach for about five minutes, then she gave up and took a nap. Tim brushed up my skills on cleaning conch, then he brought a conch salad to our cocktail during our sundowner, which was very much appreciated. It was delicious.

After nine months of planning and preparation, we finally left the dock today. Today is our two year wedding anniversary. Thanks to Chris for surprising us with coffee and donuts in the clubhouse this morning. Paul threw the dock lines on Methuselah, and Debbie and Chris took some pictures as we left Blackbeards. We will celebrate our anniversary on anchor in Beaufort tonight.

Day 3

  We got a good night sleep despite the gunfire from Camp Lejeune.     We woke up to beautiful sunny skies and we made our way with following winds and tides down to Wrightsville Beach where we met my good buddy Dennis at the dockside restaurant for a late lunch.    Picked up a Mooring ball at Carolina Beach and had a nice stroll on the boardwalk with Allie testing the bark collar….she wore out the battery!    We hope by the time we get to the Bahamas, she will be used to people and dogs in strange towns.

Day 2

  Left this morning from Beaufort with a cool motor down the intercoastal waterway past Swansboro and ended up anchoring in mile hammocks Bay at Camp Lejeune. At times the motoring got a little monotonous so we decided to play with the WebCam and get these    cute pictures.    Tomorrow, the weatherman promised us the sun!
