Day 98 Laundry Day

View of this popular anchorage.

We put on our fowl weather gear (it was sprinkling) and rode in the dinghy to wash our clothes at the the laundry mat / liquor store….it was called the “LiquorMat”!  There were two restaurants that we were contemplating eating lunch.  We went to the first one, and the guy said that the workers didn’t feel like coming to work today in the rain so they were closed. So we went to the flying pig instead and had “chicken in da bag”, which is fried chicken and french fries along with some conch fritters.  We were the only customers, and after our waitress washed our dishes by hand, she asked us to give a good Google review in exchange for a free mixed drink called a Goom Bay smash.  The one thing that we really wish we had was simple hair conditioner because our hair is growing long and with daily doses of salt water, our hair has been a tangled mess.  So we went to the hardware store, because there are no other options for toiletries, and we found some shampoo/conditioner, which seemed to help but was still not as good as good old-fashioned hundred percent hair conditioner. P.S.the battery charger that Jason brought us is working great. With no sun and all clouds today (no solar charging) we have needed to run the generator to make enough electricity for another day. Of course there is the typical charging of cell phones, Bluetooth speakers, lights, circulation fans at night that take up energy. But the main hog on our power use is the refrigerator and  freezer. So thankful for the Honda suitcase generator!

  2. Sounds like you need to take turns braiding each other's hair, or start some dreads.

  3. Hi there! Try about 1/4 cup of vinegar in about 12 oz water for a hair conditioner. Leave in for a couple of minutes then rinse. It is a good clarifier.
