Day 118 Blackbeard’s Meet Up for a Pig Pickin’….and Suprise Guest: A Stingray

 









More folks from New Bern and Oriental. 




Today we met up with three other couples from our hometown sailing club Blackbeards. We met at the chat and chill (a beach where cruisers could meet up and play volleyball and other games, chitchat, get a drink from the bar, etc., ) where they were having a pig pickin’. It was nice to share stories about everyone’s trip to the Bahamas and places they have been and where they are going next.  After lunch, Jessica rubbed the back of stingrays that was feeding on scraps from the conch shack. Afterwards, we took a stroll on the beach with Ali, and scoped out a place to watch the Super Bowl…. this will be my one viewing of a sporting event this year, well, maybe in the last two years….

Day 1

After nine months of planning and preparation, we finally left the dock today. Today is our two year wedding anniversary. Thanks to Chris for surprising us with coffee and donuts in the clubhouse this morning. Paul threw the dock lines on Methuselah, and Debbie and Chris took some pictures as we left Blackbeards. We will celebrate our anniversary on anchor in Beaufort tonight.

Day 3

  We got a good night sleep despite the gunfire from Camp Lejeune.     We woke up to beautiful sunny skies and we made our way with following winds and tides down to Wrightsville Beach where we met my good buddy Dennis at the dockside restaurant for a late lunch.    Picked up a Mooring ball at Carolina Beach and had a nice stroll on the boardwalk with Allie testing the bark collar….she wore out the battery!    We hope by the time we get to the Bahamas, she will be used to people and dogs in strange towns.

Day 2

  Left this morning from Beaufort with a cool motor down the intercoastal waterway past Swansboro and ended up anchoring in mile hammocks Bay at Camp Lejeune. At times the motoring got a little monotonous so we decided to play with the WebCam and get these    cute pictures.    Tomorrow, the weatherman promised us the sun!
