Day 125 Just One More Week in George Town
Well, we have absolutely fallen in love with Georgetown, Exuma. After one week here, we just could not bring ourselves to start slowly heading back North. So we reserved a mooring ball for one additional week. Jessica and I went on a hike around the south end of stocking island. Once again, the water views and limestone terrain with the mangroves never cease to amaze us. I picked up a piece of drift wood and Jessica mentioned how thoughtful I was to want to bring the wood home to decorate our front yard flower garden. Jessica was sadly disappointed when I told her I intended to save the wood for an upcoming fire on the beach. Ha ha. Then we decided to go to the Snappy Turtle for happy hour and get a drink and half-price hot wings. She warned us that they were super spicy, but to us they were just a good amount of heat. We discovered why happy hour is two hours long, and that is because on island time it takes two hours to get your wings …. Ha ha…. But would not trade it for fast paced city life. Jessica‘s pirate friend that she got a picture with a week ago was at the restaurant so we were chitchatting with him for a bit, and we discovered that he is one of the announcers at the morning net broadcast on the VHF radio for the ~300 cruisers anchored here to ask questions and get help with lost items, hear about restaurants with happy hours, sign up for upcoming fun events, and find out where the hardware store is located etc.
Well it was good to hear you at least mention coming back North. We were beginning to wonder.
ReplyDeleteI understand the attraction of the Exuma’s and don’t blame you for wanting to stay one more week.
Your Valentine’s Day sounded ideal and I loved the rooftop band concert. How fun! Memories that will last you a lifetime. So very glad for the awesome time that you two are having. Love you so much. Mom
