Day 127 Spotted Dolphins….Swam With Dolphins
Today was the highlight of our experience in Georgetown, Exuma’s. I saw two lobster at the first dive site and was able to harvest one for lunch. Then, on the way to the Fowl Cey reef, Jessica spots a female dolphin Cow, and her baby calf. We pulled alongside in the dinghy, and Jessica jumps off the dinghy with her mask and has a life-changing moment when she swims with the mama and baby dolphin. Both dolphins stopped and changed direction and swam straight toward Jessica and stared at her for a few seconds as the hair on the back of her neck stood up straight. It was truly a magical experience to be able to swim with a wild dolphin and her baby in their habitat. We topped off our day with our good friends from Blackbeards, Ron and Shelley, and Steve and Donna for a hot dog campfire dinner on the beach. Donna made a fabulous dip for tortilla chips that included cream cheese, salsa, and chedder cheese. Shelley brought freshly made Gord, that was absolutely delicious. Jessica and I made hotdogs over the fire logs, and of course the Bahama grocery store was out of hotdog buns so we use a good ole’ loaf of bread. We have so enjoyed spending time with our friends in the Bahamas!
Wow!!! How exciting. What an experience too swim with a dolphin family. Memories of a lifetime. Noelle
