Day 134 Get Together With Friends on Lady Lookout

 


Jessica and I went to the Staniel cay yacht club and had an excellent lunch. Then we walked to the grocery store and stocked up on fresh veggies and other provisions. We met up with some fellow cruisers at the beach when we took Ali for her afternoon beach walk. Then our friends Tim and Carolyn invited us over for a get together on their catamaran. We had a good time meeting four other couples and Carolyn served us delicious chili for dinner.  One cruising couple has a two year-old boy, so they took the dinghy and brought him to bed at a decent hour, and come back to the get-together. They were able to hear and watch the baby monitor from Tim and Carolyn‘s boat to make sure he was sleeping well. Then we played a few rounds of Mexican train. A good time was had by all.

Day 1

After nine months of planning and preparation, we finally left the dock today. Today is our two year wedding anniversary. Thanks to Chris for surprising us with coffee and donuts in the clubhouse this morning. Paul threw the dock lines on Methuselah, and Debbie and Chris took some pictures as we left Blackbeards. We will celebrate our anniversary on anchor in Beaufort tonight.

Day 3

  We got a good night sleep despite the gunfire from Camp Lejeune.     We woke up to beautiful sunny skies and we made our way with following winds and tides down to Wrightsville Beach where we met my good buddy Dennis at the dockside restaurant for a late lunch.    Picked up a Mooring ball at Carolina Beach and had a nice stroll on the boardwalk with Allie testing the bark collar….she wore out the battery!    We hope by the time we get to the Bahamas, she will be used to people and dogs in strange towns.

Day 2

  Left this morning from Beaufort with a cool motor down the intercoastal waterway past Swansboro and ended up anchoring in mile hammocks Bay at Camp Lejeune. At times the motoring got a little monotonous so we decided to play with the WebCam and get these    cute pictures.    Tomorrow, the weatherman promised us the sun!
