Day 135 Snorkeling the “Aquarium”

 










Jessica and I sailed, with no motor, from Staniel Cay to O’Briens Cay.  We so enjoyed snorkeling at the “aquarium”with her sister Noelle, that we came back to snorkel it again today. We decided to put bread inside a water squirt bottle and squeeze out the bread for the fish to eat. It felt like we were inside the eye of a tornado with fish swarming all around us. One fish nibbled or brushed up against Jessica‘s hand and drew a little bit of blood. No harm done. But the highlight was when Jessica pointed out to me the scrawled filefish. It was absolutely beautiful. Then Jessica snorkeled over an airplane crash from long ago when drugs were smuggled into this Cay.

Day 1

After nine months of planning and preparation, we finally left the dock today. Today is our two year wedding anniversary. Thanks to Chris for surprising us with coffee and donuts in the clubhouse this morning. Paul threw the dock lines on Methuselah, and Debbie and Chris took some pictures as we left Blackbeards. We will celebrate our anniversary on anchor in Beaufort tonight.

Day 3

  We got a good night sleep despite the gunfire from Camp Lejeune.     We woke up to beautiful sunny skies and we made our way with following winds and tides down to Wrightsville Beach where we met my good buddy Dennis at the dockside restaurant for a late lunch.    Picked up a Mooring ball at Carolina Beach and had a nice stroll on the boardwalk with Allie testing the bark collar….she wore out the battery!    We hope by the time we get to the Bahamas, she will be used to people and dogs in strange towns.

Day 2

  Left this morning from Beaufort with a cool motor down the intercoastal waterway past Swansboro and ended up anchoring in mile hammocks Bay at Camp Lejeune. At times the motoring got a little monotonous so we decided to play with the WebCam and get these    cute pictures.    Tomorrow, the weatherman promised us the sun!
