Day 142 Snorkeling 2 shipwrecks & an airplane crash

An unscheduled discovery of a hiking trail led  to not having hiking apparel, but only our snorkeling equipment. I was able to take my top half off of my wetsuit because it was hot.

Airplane wing, not the visibility of the Exuma’s, but we enjoyed our snorkel.

Boiler.

A new way of snorkeling in knee-deep water around a shipwreck.

Jessica and I took a dinghy ride to go exploring today. We found two shipwrecks with propeller and diesel engines still underwater rusting away. Then we found an airplane crash from the 1980s when this Cay was used as a hub for drug smuggling. We did not have a temperature gauge in the dinghy, but the fact that I got in the water with no wetsuit means it was at least in the low 90s. We discovered a beach with a nice incoming tide current that made for a type of a lazy river, with a trailhead at the beach that led around Lignumitae Cay  to some interesting house ruins from eons ago. We still have more research to do to determine the origins. We felt like doing something different for dinner so we are finishing the evening by grilling hobo packs at the Marina Community Grill.

Time lapse fast forward of Jessica floating with the incoming tide.
