Day 146 Goodbye to the Berry Islands

Jessica and I enjoyed one last day at the marina. We ate conch salad for lunch from the local conch shack at the marina. We decided to spice it up from 2 to 4 out of 5 on the spicy scale. It was delicious. There was a potluck at the marina in the evening.  Jessica and I said goodbye to the friends that we have met during our weeklong stay in the marina. Jessica and I made pasta for the potluck dinner, and the marina staff provided the ribs. In  true Bahamian style, we were surprised to learn that we were supposed to bring our own plates and forks…. Who would have thought you needed to bring to a potluck? We managed to use the lid from our serving dish as a plate and we found a plastic fork that no one had used yet. Monday, we are making our 14 hour passage to Bimini.

Day 1

After nine months of planning and preparation, we finally left the dock today. Today is our two year wedding anniversary. Thanks to Chris for surprising us with coffee and donuts in the clubhouse this morning. Paul threw the dock lines on Methuselah, and Debbie and Chris took some pictures as we left Blackbeards. We will celebrate our anniversary on anchor in Beaufort tonight.

Day 3

  We got a good night sleep despite the gunfire from Camp Lejeune.     We woke up to beautiful sunny skies and we made our way with following winds and tides down to Wrightsville Beach where we met my good buddy Dennis at the dockside restaurant for a late lunch.    Picked up a Mooring ball at Carolina Beach and had a nice stroll on the boardwalk with Allie testing the bark collar….she wore out the battery!    We hope by the time we get to the Bahamas, she will be used to people and dogs in strange towns.

Day 2

  Left this morning from Beaufort with a cool motor down the intercoastal waterway past Swansboro and ended up anchoring in mile hammocks Bay at Camp Lejeune. At times the motoring got a little monotonous so we decided to play with the WebCam and get these    cute pictures.    Tomorrow, the weatherman promised us the sun!
