Day 147 Arrival in Bimini

 








Jessica and I woke up at 3:30 AM and I took Alli for her beach walk. Jessica took the helm and we got the anchor up, so we set sail and made the 13 hour passage to Bimini. We tried our luck at fishing where the Florida Straits meet the great Bahama Bank, but no luck today. In true Bahemian style, the fuel barge was fueling the tanks at the marina and the floating fuel line was blocking access to the marina. So we did circles for 30 minutes and finally got into our slip. Jessica and I walked over to the pool and enjoyed a dip to cool off. We are now a mere 50 miles from Florida and it feels so weird to be drawing down to the end of our Bahamas excursion. We have both had the time of our lives and still look forward to sailing up the East Coast back to North Carolina.

After nine months of planning and preparation, we finally left the dock today. Today is our two year wedding anniversary. Thanks to Chris for surprising us with coffee and donuts in the clubhouse this morning. Paul threw the dock lines on Methuselah, and Debbie and Chris took some pictures as we left Blackbeards. We will celebrate our anniversary on anchor in Beaufort tonight.

Day 3

  We got a good night sleep despite the gunfire from Camp Lejeune.     We woke up to beautiful sunny skies and we made our way with following winds and tides down to Wrightsville Beach where we met my good buddy Dennis at the dockside restaurant for a late lunch.    Picked up a Mooring ball at Carolina Beach and had a nice stroll on the boardwalk with Allie testing the bark collar….she wore out the battery!    We hope by the time we get to the Bahamas, she will be used to people and dogs in strange towns.

Day 2

  Left this morning from Beaufort with a cool motor down the intercoastal waterway past Swansboro and ended up anchoring in mile hammocks Bay at Camp Lejeune. At times the motoring got a little monotonous so we decided to play with the WebCam and get these    cute pictures.    Tomorrow, the weatherman promised us the sun!
