Day 149 The Road to the Underwater City Atlantis, and SHARK Snorkel

Jessica and I both spoke with our future managers at work this morning to start the process of returning to the real world.  Shortly thereafter, we returned to island life.  We visited the dolphin house which consisted of a three-story building built by Sir Ashley Saunders, who is a local that has been crowned a knight by Queen Elizabeth. He was born in this house, gave us the tour, and fixed up this home from items that have washed ashore here in Bimini. It was very, very, very interesting…Today’s adventure involved searching for the famous “Bimini Road to Atlantis” (the underwater city).  I will post a link below, but many people think that this is  an early human road to the underwater city. Not so sure if we believe all that, but it was interesting to find the road with random GPS coordinates found online. In nature, there are no straight lines, but we found straight lines of the “road” which consisted of rectangular blocks of limestone in a straight line for a quarter mile length.  Next, we looked for a reef called the rainbow reef, and we’re disappointed by the lack of live coral, so Shark Lady, a.k.a. Jessica, said let’s go see the sharks again. So we made the 10 mile dinghy ride past the cruise ship to the shark reef. We were once again amazed by the docile behavior and size of the Caribbean reef sharks. Later in the evening after showers, we met up with our new friends in this marina, Laura and Rodd. They are just starting their journey in the Bahamas so it was fun to share stories.
