Day 160 Back to America!

 

Last night in Bahamas.
 


 Best boat dog ever! 

Left Bimini at 7 AM and made our way across the gulf stream safe and sound. We hooked up with one mahi-mahi, but it was small and when we got him close to the boat, he threw the hook. That’s OK, we are going to get us a good old American hamburger at McDonald’s soon anyway. Ha ha. Came into Florida at West Palm Beach 11 hours after leaving Bimini and were totally amazed by the wealth of this nation by just looking at the homes and boats. America may not be perfect, but it is the best country in this world. We loved the Bahamas, and one thing we learned from the Bahamian’s is that you don’t have to have money to be happy. Truly wonderful, appreciative and happy people in the Bahama Islands. We have so many wonderful memories that we will reminisce about for years to come, but are soon looking forward to spending time with our family and friends!!

After nine months of planning and preparation, we finally left the dock today. Today is our two year wedding anniversary. Thanks to Chris for surprising us with coffee and donuts in the clubhouse this morning. Paul threw the dock lines on Methuselah, and Debbie and Chris took some pictures as we left Blackbeards. We will celebrate our anniversary on anchor in Beaufort tonight.

Day 3

  We got a good night sleep despite the gunfire from Camp Lejeune.     We woke up to beautiful sunny skies and we made our way with following winds and tides down to Wrightsville Beach where we met my good buddy Dennis at the dockside restaurant for a late lunch.    Picked up a Mooring ball at Carolina Beach and had a nice stroll on the boardwalk with Allie testing the bark collar….she wore out the battery!    We hope by the time we get to the Bahamas, she will be used to people and dogs in strange towns.

Day 2

  Left this morning from Beaufort with a cool motor down the intercoastal waterway past Swansboro and ended up anchoring in mile hammocks Bay at Camp Lejeune. At times the motoring got a little monotonous so we decided to play with the WebCam and get these    cute pictures.    Tomorrow, the weatherman promised us the sun!
