Day 164 Cheeseburger in Paradise

 




This morning, Jessica took a walk with Alli. They explored the nearby Greenway and parks that are near the marina. I ordered a water pump for the boat yesterday and received it today at the marina. Amazing how quick you can get items delivered in America, never ceases to amaze me. I installed the pump and then Jessica and I went on the free trolley over to the beach boardwalk area and had an excellent burger at Mulligan‘s. Now I know why Jimmy Buffett made the song “cheeseburger in paradise”in which he eats a cheeseburger while he is in port. Afterwards, we walked the boardwalk and through the neighborhoods back to the marina. We noticed a lot of foliage that had been damaged by the unusually cold freezing temperatures in early February here in South Florida. Every Thursday night, the marina throws a social gathering in which people bring appetizers and chitchat about their journeys. Tonight was our mooring ball mate Roger’s birthday, so chocolate cake was also served.

After nine months of planning and preparation, we finally left the dock today. Today is our two year wedding anniversary. Thanks to Chris for surprising us with coffee and donuts in the clubhouse this morning. Paul threw the dock lines on Methuselah, and Debbie and Chris took some pictures as we left Blackbeards. We will celebrate our anniversary on anchor in Beaufort tonight.

Day 3

  We got a good night sleep despite the gunfire from Camp Lejeune.     We woke up to beautiful sunny skies and we made our way with following winds and tides down to Wrightsville Beach where we met my good buddy Dennis at the dockside restaurant for a late lunch.    Picked up a Mooring ball at Carolina Beach and had a nice stroll on the boardwalk with Allie testing the bark collar….she wore out the battery!    We hope by the time we get to the Bahamas, she will be used to people and dogs in strange towns.

Day 2

  Left this morning from Beaufort with a cool motor down the intercoastal waterway past Swansboro and ended up anchoring in mile hammocks Bay at Camp Lejeune. At times the motoring got a little monotonous so we decided to play with the WebCam and get these    cute pictures.    Tomorrow, the weatherman promised us the sun!
