Day 166 A Good Dinner with Great Friends

 



Notice all the rust on the new dog stroller from the harsh salt water environment. Alli will be getting a new one soon….

Jessica took a long walk around the Vero Beach municipal Greenway area and neighborhood. She was amazed at the damaged foliage that is still evident from the hard freeze in early February. The windy period that we are experiencing made it a little cooler so she did not get as hot today during her walk. We took the free shuttle that comes to the marina over to the Publix grocery store. Once again we were in awe of the selection and are so appreciative of American grocery stores. Our good friends from Blackbeard sailing club, Steve and Donna are at this Marina as well. We picked them up on the dinghy and went to Riverside Café for dinner. We had such a good talk about our experiences in the Bahamas. We met up with Steve and Donna in the Exuma’s so it was fun to share stories since we saw them a month ago.

After nine months of planning and preparation, we finally left the dock today. Today is our two year wedding anniversary. Thanks to Chris for surprising us with coffee and donuts in the clubhouse this morning. Paul threw the dock lines on Methuselah, and Debbie and Chris took some pictures as we left Blackbeards. We will celebrate our anniversary on anchor in Beaufort tonight.

Day 3

  We got a good night sleep despite the gunfire from Camp Lejeune.     We woke up to beautiful sunny skies and we made our way with following winds and tides down to Wrightsville Beach where we met my good buddy Dennis at the dockside restaurant for a late lunch.    Picked up a Mooring ball at Carolina Beach and had a nice stroll on the boardwalk with Allie testing the bark collar….she wore out the battery!    We hope by the time we get to the Bahamas, she will be used to people and dogs in strange towns.

Day 2

  Left this morning from Beaufort with a cool motor down the intercoastal waterway past Swansboro and ended up anchoring in mile hammocks Bay at Camp Lejeune. At times the motoring got a little monotonous so we decided to play with the WebCam and get these    cute pictures.    Tomorrow, the weatherman promised us the sun!
