Day 168 Arrival at Cocoa Beach










We ripped the Velcro off and left Vero Beach this morning. Ha ha. The wind and current was in our favor so we sailed at 8 knots and made good time so we went past Melbourne Florida and anchored up in Cocoa Beach. when we got out of the dinghy to walk Ali, we could not find her dog leash. Turns out I left it back in Vero Beach this morning on the dinghy dock. Nothing like some spare sailing line laying around for a makeshift leash until we can get a new one. At 5:15, a SpaceX rocket took off from nearby Cape Canaveral. I spotted it for two seconds before it went behind the cloud so it was not visible long enough to get a picture.

Day 1

After nine months of planning and preparation, we finally left the dock today. Today is our two year wedding anniversary. Thanks to Chris for surprising us with coffee and donuts in the clubhouse this morning. Paul threw the dock lines on Methuselah, and Debbie and Chris took some pictures as we left Blackbeards. We will celebrate our anniversary on anchor in Beaufort tonight.

  We got a good night sleep despite the gunfire from Camp Lejeune.     We woke up to beautiful sunny skies and we made our way with following winds and tides down to Wrightsville Beach where we met my good buddy Dennis at the dockside restaurant for a late lunch.    Picked up a Mooring ball at Carolina Beach and had a nice stroll on the boardwalk with Allie testing the bark collar….she wore out the battery!    We hope by the time we get to the Bahamas, she will be used to people and dogs in strange towns.

Day 2

  Left this morning from Beaufort with a cool motor down the intercoastal waterway past Swansboro and ended up anchoring in mile hammocks Bay at Camp Lejeune. At times the motoring got a little monotonous so we decided to play with the WebCam and get these    cute pictures.    Tomorrow, the weatherman promised us the sun!
