Day 169 Dolphins Manatees and a Lizard…oh My

 

Quest to catch a lizard.

We left Cocoa Beach this morning and made our way north to Mosquito Lagoon. We made good time with the wind and the current in our favor and we really didn’t want to anchor in a place called Mosquito Lagoon anyway, so we kept sailing north to new Smryrna Beach. There is a 5 inch long reptile on the boat. It could be an iguana from Bahamas, but I really think it is just a lizard. It has been my quest to catch it.  We saw a number of manatees in Haulover Inlet north of Titusville that had many scratches on their back from boat accidents. Then after we anchored up at Smyrna Beach, we saw a pod of dolphin swimming alongside a pod of manatees, so we thought that was pretty unusual. Tonight we are going to grill spicy sausages and tomorrow our goal is Daytona Beach.

After nine months of planning and preparation, we finally left the dock today. Today is our two year wedding anniversary. Thanks to Chris for surprising us with coffee and donuts in the clubhouse this morning. Paul threw the dock lines on Methuselah, and Debbie and Chris took some pictures as we left Blackbeards. We will celebrate our anniversary on anchor in Beaufort tonight.

Day 3

  We got a good night sleep despite the gunfire from Camp Lejeune.     We woke up to beautiful sunny skies and we made our way with following winds and tides down to Wrightsville Beach where we met my good buddy Dennis at the dockside restaurant for a late lunch.    Picked up a Mooring ball at Carolina Beach and had a nice stroll on the boardwalk with Allie testing the bark collar….she wore out the battery!    We hope by the time we get to the Bahamas, she will be used to people and dogs in strange towns.

Day 2

  Left this morning from Beaufort with a cool motor down the intercoastal waterway past Swansboro and ended up anchoring in mile hammocks Bay at Camp Lejeune. At times the motoring got a little monotonous so we decided to play with the WebCam and get these    cute pictures.    Tomorrow, the weatherman promised us the sun!
