Day 181 Made it to South Carolina

 



Relaxed at the helm 





We left Georgia this morning and made a nice 60 miles north to the outskirts of Hilton Head on Daufuskie Island.  The 8 foot tidal fluctuation in Georgia creates currents that are very strong either in favor or against us. It seemed to even out throughout the day and we made our typical average time of  six knots. We had our eye on a crab shack because it had such good service and a nice atmosphere from our previous trip on the way south.  Six months ago, we got a picture of Jessica and I laying in the crab shack bath tub, so we were bound and determined to repeat the picture tonight.




Well, not exactly the same as a dolphin on the bow in gin clear water, but still pretty cool.

Day 1

After nine months of planning and preparation, we finally left the dock today. Today is our two year wedding anniversary. Thanks to Chris for surprising us with coffee and donuts in the clubhouse this morning. Paul threw the dock lines on Methuselah, and Debbie and Chris took some pictures as we left Blackbeards. We will celebrate our anniversary on anchor in Beaufort tonight.

Day 3

  We got a good night sleep despite the gunfire from Camp Lejeune.     We woke up to beautiful sunny skies and we made our way with following winds and tides down to Wrightsville Beach where we met my good buddy Dennis at the dockside restaurant for a late lunch.    Picked up a Mooring ball at Carolina Beach and had a nice stroll on the boardwalk with Allie testing the bark collar….she wore out the battery!    We hope by the time we get to the Bahamas, she will be used to people and dogs in strange towns.

Day 2

  Left this morning from Beaufort with a cool motor down the intercoastal waterway past Swansboro and ended up anchoring in mile hammocks Bay at Camp Lejeune. At times the motoring got a little monotonous so we decided to play with the WebCam and get these    cute pictures.    Tomorrow, the weatherman promised us the sun!
