Day 186 Charleston With Dad and Trish

 













Today we stayed anchored off Charleston in front of the beautiful Battery. We met Jessica’s father and Trish for lunch at the marina restaurant overlooking the water. We shared stories about our trip and enjoyed catching up since we saw them on our way south in October. We took a scenic walk around the Battery and saw where the Declaration of Independence was read. We enjoyed looking at the antebellum houses and even got a modified tour of the old mill that was now being used as a wedding venue. It seems like we can never get enough of the beautiful streets in Charleston. But after a good long walk, we ended the visit with a drink at the Blind Tiger and said our “see you soons” to Don And Trish!  Just like the rest of our trip, a highlight has been the people that we meet along the way. The family that we have seen on our venture north of the southeast coast has been a highlight!

After nine months of planning and preparation, we finally left the dock today. Today is our two year wedding anniversary. Thanks to Chris for surprising us with coffee and donuts in the clubhouse this morning. Paul threw the dock lines on Methuselah, and Debbie and Chris took some pictures as we left Blackbeards. We will celebrate our anniversary on anchor in Beaufort tonight.

Day 3

  We got a good night sleep despite the gunfire from Camp Lejeune.     We woke up to beautiful sunny skies and we made our way with following winds and tides down to Wrightsville Beach where we met my good buddy Dennis at the dockside restaurant for a late lunch.    Picked up a Mooring ball at Carolina Beach and had a nice stroll on the boardwalk with Allie testing the bark collar….she wore out the battery!    We hope by the time we get to the Bahamas, she will be used to people and dogs in strange towns.

Day 2

  Left this morning from Beaufort with a cool motor down the intercoastal waterway past Swansboro and ended up anchoring in mile hammocks Bay at Camp Lejeune. At times the motoring got a little monotonous so we decided to play with the WebCam and get these    cute pictures.    Tomorrow, the weatherman promised us the sun!
