Day 188 Scenic Sail up the Waccamaw River

 















Jessica and I woke up and since there were no docks or beaches within 1 mile for walking Alli, we made the one hour trip north to downtown Georgetown to walk Alli. Additionally, I noticed that they had a country kitchen open for breakfast so I could not resist us getting another omelette. We are still in food appreciation mode from having to do our own thing in the Bahamas (for the most part) for four months. We walked around the cute streets of Georgetown and thoroughly enjoyed the Live Oaks, Riverwalk, & historic homes. After brunch, we made 30 miles north to the Waccamaw River, which is absolutely beautiful. The Cypress trees, gum trees, Tupelo trees with Spanish moss hanging off the limbs in the slow meandering current of the Waccamaw River along with the barred owl sounds is absolute paradise! Tonight is taco night and tomorrow we will motor through the Myrtle Beach area.

After nine months of planning and preparation, we finally left the dock today. Today is our two year wedding anniversary. Thanks to Chris for surprising us with coffee and donuts in the clubhouse this morning. Paul threw the dock lines on Methuselah, and Debbie and Chris took some pictures as we left Blackbeards. We will celebrate our anniversary on anchor in Beaufort tonight.

Day 3

  We got a good night sleep despite the gunfire from Camp Lejeune.     We woke up to beautiful sunny skies and we made our way with following winds and tides down to Wrightsville Beach where we met my good buddy Dennis at the dockside restaurant for a late lunch.    Picked up a Mooring ball at Carolina Beach and had a nice stroll on the boardwalk with Allie testing the bark collar….she wore out the battery!    We hope by the time we get to the Bahamas, she will be used to people and dogs in strange towns.

Day 2

  Left this morning from Beaufort with a cool motor down the intercoastal waterway past Swansboro and ended up anchoring in mile hammocks Bay at Camp Lejeune. At times the motoring got a little monotonous so we decided to play with the WebCam and get these    cute pictures.    Tomorrow, the weatherman promised us the sun!
